The Star Diner on Newport Avenue in East Providence has opened after being painstakingly restored and upgraded. Bethany Smith and Quentin Sanford, brother and sister, bought the very original DeRaffele designed and built diner in 2000 from the family who ran the China Star Chinese restaurant in the diner since 1964.

Three Diners are being considered for the back of the Massacusetts new quarter to be released by the United States Mint sometime in 2010. We are reaching out to our diner friends to vote for one of three diners to be on the back of the Massachusetts Quarter. Vote as often as you like before 5 p.m. on February 26, 2009.
